Brief history
La Balanguera is a poem of Joan Alcover i Maspons (1854-1926), which, set to music in 1923 by the composer Amadeu Vives (1871-1932), is the official hymn of Mallorca. La Balanguera could be assimilated to the figure of the Parcae and the Moirai, as she develops the function of “weaving the future” in the song and she seems to possess a supernatural wisdom.
